CALIFORNIA LAW FOR SCHOOLS — Whooping cough (pertussis) has been widespread in California and to help protect your children and others from whooping cough, a new California law now requires students to be vaccinated against whooping cough.
Since the 2017-18 school year, students entering 7th grade will need proof of the whooping cough booster shot (Tdap) before starting school.
Can be met by receiving one dose of Tdap vaccine on or after the 7th birthday.
Must provide a copy to the school
Your child will not be placed on a class list until vaccine is confirmed
By law, students who do not have proof of receiving a Tdap booster shot will not be able to start school until proof is provided to the school. (The tetanus-diphtheria booster shot, Td, will not meet the requirement.)
If you wish to request an exemption due to personal, or medical reasons, please contact the school.
